Privacy Policy
Who I am
This website, www.rae-campbell.com, is run by the author who writes as Rae Campbell. Rae Campbell is a pen name. For anything to do with this policy or your personal data, write to rae@rae-campbell.com.
What this site collects
The only personal information this site collects is what you choose to send through the Contact form: your first and last name, your email address, which kinds of writing you are interested in (novels, short stories, poetry), and the message you write in the Details box. Nothing else about you is gathered by the form. Please do not send sensitive personal information through it; there is no need to.
Why, and on what basis
I use what you send in order to read and reply to your enquiry. Under UK data-protection law the lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have written to me, and it is in both our interests that I can answer. If you are an agent, editor or publisher, your details may be kept as part of the ordinary correspondence between us about my work.
How long it is kept
Form submissions are stored by Squarespace, the platform that hosts this site, and copied to my email. I keep enquiries for as long as they are live and delete stored form submissions that are no longer needed, and in any case within twelve months of receipt unless we are in continuing correspondence.
Who else sees it
Nobody, apart from the services that make the site work. Squarespace hosts the site and stores form submissions on my behalf. The Contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that a submission comes from a person and not an automated script; reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s own privacy policy and terms. I do not sell, share or pass on your details to anyone else, and I do not use them for marketing.
Cookies
Squarespace sets a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to function and for its security. If site analytics are enabled, Squarespace may also set cookies that measure how the site is used; these are anonymous and are not used to identify you. The cookie banner on the site lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies, and you can also control cookies through your browser settings.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to my using it, and to ask that its use be restricted. To exercise any of these rights, email rae@rae-campbell.com. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date. This version is dated 30 August 2026.
